PlayIt Recorder

If you want to add your personal comments to a video presentation or something similar, all you need is a microphone and a specialized application. Acquiring a microphone is not difficult, but finding a suitable application, that would satisfy your needs, may take some time. PlayIt Recorder provides a straightforward solution for recording your voice. You just need to hit a Record button and start talking. The recordings are stored automatically on your hard drive, in a format of your choice. The software includes various features, for deleting old recordings, scheduling new ones and much more.

Although PlayIt Recorder is free, you still have to create an online account and activate the product. If you already have an account or if you log in with Facebook, the activation will take only a few seconds. The application works on numerous Windows platforms, from Win 2003 to Win 7. Apart from .NET Framework 3.5 or higher, you don't have to meet any other requirements.

PlayIt Recorder interface is very simple and easy to understand. If a microphone is plugged into your computer, you can start recording right away. The Record, Pause and Stop options are located on the upper half of the window. When you are done, your recording will appear in a list, on the lower half of the window.

You can select a recording device, output path and format, in the general settings menu. The recordings can be saved as WAV or MP3 files and you can choose from a variety of qualities, if you opt for the MP3 format. Additionally, the software can be set to erase recordings, if they are older than a given number of days or when the free disk space drops below a certain percentage.

It is also possible to schedule recordings. You can either draw a rectangle, on a calendar, to define the start and end hours, or make a series of settings on a separate window. The software can start recording automatically once, at a certain time and date or it can record on a regular basis, every day, week, month or year, until a certain date or indefinitely.
